Introduction
Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Control Room Operator (Artisan) to be placed in Ivanplats Platreef Mine, Mokopane, Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Shift Supervisor.
The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates.

Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
· Effective execution of control room operations to ensure daily production targets are met
· Effective monitoring and control of all services and infrastructure during a shift e.g. portable water supply for underground use, pumps, fans, conveyor belts etc.
· Assist with / supervise the daily activities of the Control Room Assistants [site specific]
· Report system malfunctions immediately and lead communications to advise system users of outages and progress as per predetermined notification process
· Accurate recording of standing hours and outage times, escalate anomalies to Supervisor
· Apply appropriate stand by and/or call out procedures
· Compile reports as requested by Supervisor
· Maintain and operate the control room systems / functions to quality standards
· Maintain good control room housekeeping standards
· Effective team and self-management in alignment with M&RC’s values
· Effective risk identification and mitigation within the respective legislative frameworks, quality standards, policies and procedures, escalate and report accordingly
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
· Grade 12 or equivalent (with Maths & Science)
· Trade Certificate
· MS Office Proficient (Word and Excel)
· Good English verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to communicate clearly over radio systems
· Ability to supervise a team
· Deciding and initiating action within agreed parameters in a pressurised environment
· Attentive to detail
· Planning and organizing skills
· Systems and process oriented
· Proactive with ability to plan ahead
· Ability to adapt to change technologies
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
- At least 4 years of experience in trackless underground mining as an Artisan
- At least 3 years of experience as a Control Room Assistant [preferred
