Introduction
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Learner Operator Raise Drilling, to be based at Impala 16 Shaft near Rustenburg, North West. The successful candidate will report to the Operator Raise Drilling.
Job description

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Raise Drilling General Worker [Advantageous]
  • Sound knowledge of raise drilling operations and methods
  • Ability to supervise a team and complete administrative requirements [reporting, checklists, safety documentation]
  • Understanding of a baseline risk assessment with ability to complete an issue based risk assessment independently
     
     The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
  • Successfully complete on the job practical work and theory at the M&RC Training Academy
  • Safely operate raise drilling machines under supervision
  • Follow lock out procedures
  • Effective engagement with facilitator, coach, assessors and site team
  • Safely and successfully perform the duties of the Operator Raise Drilling at the learner operator level
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and timeously
  • Understand and comply with M&RC’s standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
  • Proactive risk identification and mitigation, escalate and report
  • Effective self and team management and alignment with M&RC’s values and leadership initiatives

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
  • Raise Drilling Operator training program
  • Competency B
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Valid passport
  • Good English communication skills (written and verbal)
