Introduction
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Assembler Bentley Park, to be based at the Mechanical Workshop, Engineering Services, Bentley Park near Carletonville, Gauteng. The successful candidate will report to the Artisan Bentley Park.
Job description

The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South Africans (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
  • N2, with Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science and Trade Theory (Advantageous)
  • Must be able to do repetitive work quickly and methodically
  • Must be able to read and complete basic QCP’s (Quality Control Plans)
  • Be fully conversant in English

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
·       At least 4 years’ experience as an Engineering Assistant, i.e. Fitter / Diesel Mechanic
·       Relevant working experience in earthmoving and trackless mining equipment workshops
·       Relevant rebuild experience in earthmoving and trackless mining equipment
·       Must be able to operate a mechanical and hydraulic pipe bender
·       Knowledge of different hydraulic fittings and components
·       Must be able to measure and bend a pipe from a sample
·       Must have the ability read a basic hydraulic schematic  
·       Must be able to fit hydraulic and mechanical components on machines
·       Must be fit to work underground and must not have a criminal record
 
     The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
·       Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, specifications and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and materials
·       Positions parts and subassemblies by using template or reading measurements and installation/assembly instructions
·       Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies
·       Verifies specifications by measuring complete component
·       Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs
·       Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
·       Documents actions by completing production and quality forms
·       Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
