Introduction
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Electronics Technician IV, to be based at Bentley Park Mining Services Workshop near Carletonville, Gauteng. The successful candidate will report to the Foreman Engineering.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
· Effective software programming and fault finding in line with OEM specifications
· Accurately interpret PLC, electronic and electrical drawings in fault finding
· Effectively program, repair, maintain, trouble shoot and overhaul all types of raise boring / mining equipment according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications
· Cost containment through effective planning, no rework, availability of spares and equipment
· Self and team understand and comply with M&RC’s standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
· Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows
· Effective self and team management and alignment with M&RC’s values and leadership initiatives
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
Diploma Electrical Engineering NQF 6 [Light current / Electronics] or an Electrical Trade Certificate with in-house certification of PLCs and AC/DC drives
· Valid Driver’s license
· Good English communication skills (written and verbal)
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
· Diplomats require at least 5 years of on the job experience in AC/DC motor drives
· Trade certificated requires at least 5 years of trade experience as an Electrician and at least 5 years of mining industry experience in winders (PLC)
· Experience in developing software for AC and DC drives
· Ability and experience in interpreting electrical drawings and conducting fault finding, inclusive of PLC drives
· Understanding the working of AC and DC drives and motors
· Knowledge of the interface of electrical supply to hydraulic systems
· Extensive knowledge of software platforms to develop software programs
· Knowledge of Nidec drives (advantageous)
· Ability to repair electronic hardware (advantageous)
