Introduction
Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Labour Control Assistant to be placed in Matla. The successful candidate will report to the Human Resources Coordinator. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
Job description

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
  • At least 2 years of HR related experience preferably within a mining contracting environment as this role will be required to conduct underground visits
  • Good understanding and knowledge of employee relations, human resources practices and legislation
 
     The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
  • Support the HR site team by administrating the labour control function efficiently
  • Administrate and monitor unavailable labour and distribute reports as required
  • Complete Crew Make-ups checklists, check for completeness, obtain approval and distribute as required
  • Update and maintain the manning boards to standard (site specific task)
  • Verify employee crew placements on manning board and initiate process to allocate / transfer employee timeously (site specific task)
  • Verify that the manning board and crew make up are aligned (site specific task)
  • Follow up on crew make-up compliance and anomalies identified
  • Identify type of absenteeism, compile absenteeism report and submit to supervisor
  • Initiate and arrange Absenteeism case handling with supervisor and take into consideration employee’s previous disciplinary record
  •  Distribute absenteeism hearing outcome to the T&A Clerks and HR Officer and update the employee’s file on site.
  • Upon receipt of the Leave Plan from the HR Officer, consult with the section HODs to confirm who will be scheduled to go on leave, inform employees accordingly.
  • Verify employee licenses and schedule renewals timeously
  • Assist with the administration of engagements, transfers, promotions and terminations of employees
  • Update engagement and termination processes on the HR information system
  • Resolve or escalate employee HR queries timeously
  • Update labour control documentation on the site based personnel filing system
  • Perform self-audit against HR Standards Operating Procedure in preparation for the HR Officer’s audit
  • Maintain administrative competence and data integrity of employee related documentation
  • Maintain effective self-management in alignment with M&RC’s values and leadership initiatives

Minimum requirements


Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
  • Human Resources related Degree / National Diploma at NQF Level 6
  • MS Office Proficient (Word, Excel)
  • Good administration skills, with basic numeracy
  • Fully conversant in English (written and verbal)
