Introduction
The Senior Storeman will assume responsibility for managing the store’s activities from receipt, storage through to issue, distribution and control of materials, goods, equipment and consumables and implementing an effective stores and materials control system that contribute to meet the needs for the project whilst complying with all HSE and MRP policies, procedures and standards. As well controlling all Legal SHEQ responsibility’s on tools, equipment and vehicles.
Job description

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Equipment and material management

  • Report all deviations, delays or change in timelines promptly
  • Follow the required policies, processes, procedures and standards
  • Attend planning / production meetings and provide feedback / solutions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure verification and quality assessment of the delivery process.
  • Control the receiving of equipment, materials and consumables in the stores by entering the information into the system as per the relevant procedure.
  • Ensure goods received that do not conform to the delivery note and or requirement are returned to the supplier or quarantined, pending resolution of the discrepancy and liaise with the quality control representative on the matter.
  • Ensure material and equipment released for construction is fit for purpose and, where necessary, verified against certificates.
  • Conduct quality audits on goods received to ensure compliance with relevant procedures and standards.
  • Oversee the issuing, transfer and return of equipment through the maintenance of correct documentation.
  • Perform regular stock taking and auditing and implement processes to stop shrinkages.
  • Inspect damaged equipment, tools, materials, vehicles in order to determine the viability of repair or disposal and arrange for repair thereof.
  • Ensure maintenance of equipment in stores under his / her control.
  • Ensure good housekeeping by keeping areas neat and tidy at all times.
  • Be responsible for receiving, storing and issuing materials in stores.
  • Implement and maintain an effective stores management system that ensures the delivery of the required plant, equipment, consumables and appliances to the sites on time and in working order.
  • Ensure timeous and accurate processing of materials and documentation to ensure correct receipt, timeous delivery and stock holding decisions.
  • Ensure that stock holding targets are met.
  • Ensure that, where required, Customs and Duties documentation requirements are met when required.
  • Ensure safe handling and keeping of hazardous goods.
  • Ensure that site stores comply with the QMS and procedures.
  • Ensure daily, weekly, monthly and 3 monthly inspections and legal registers as per the Act.

Minimum requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) optional
  • Hands on experience

EXPERIENCE:

  • Solar knowledge will be advantageous
  • Experience in a construction / mining / engineering company will be advantageous.
  • 5-10 years’ experience as a Storeman.
