Introduction
The Assistant Construction Manager will be responsible for assisting in the management of the physical construction processes within the built environment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordination, administration and management of resources on site.
Job description

Key Performance Indicators:
 
  • Assist with the management of construction activities on site
  • Assist with the management of resources on site
  • Assist with the management of Contractors on site
  • Collate and report daily progress to the Construction Manager
  • Analyse, manage and mitigate risks
  • Ensuring that no employee carries out any work that he is not competent to perform
  • Ensuring that all Work Procedures applicable to the work carried out under your supervision are adhered to and are fully implemented.
  • Ensuring that all construction work is performed under your supervision and is carried out by persons suitably trained and competent to do such work.
  • Planning ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
  • Assist with the management of quality assurance and control in your work area
  • Role model appropriate behaviour consistent with company policies, standards & procedures.

Minimum requirements

Qualification:
 
  • Electrical or Civil or Mechanical Engineering National Diploma or equivalent (advantageous)
  • SACPCMP Certification (advantageous)
  • Construction Regulations
  • OHS Act
  • Legal Liability
  • HIRA
 
Skills & Experience:
 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ construction management experience on substation and overhead line projects.
  • Site operations and management exposure
  • Project Management exposure
  • Construction environment
  • High job demand in tight turnaround time requirement
  • Highly developed managerial skills
