Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
· Utilise strategic, management and technical skills to plan, delegate, control, and monitor tasks through to project delivery in line with M&RC’s project management framework.
· Safe achievement of production and financial targets to client’s and M&RC’s standards
· Manage and schedule mining / construction activities to project scope, ensure team understands original scope.
· Monitor and maintain critical path and project status on MS Projects
· Lead, develop and coach employees to ensure effective day to day operations in alignment with M&RC’s values.
· Identify talent, critical and core skills and implement talent management initiatives to ensure business continuity.
· Build relationships cross functionally to ensure efficient delivery against common objectives.
· Maintain and improve stakeholder and client relationships to ensure smooth workflows and timeous project delivery.
· Enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of work practices and systems by optimizing all available resources, i.e., people, technology, finance, and systems.
· Identify, develop, and implement controlled change initiatives to ensure project continuity.
· Manage risk and operational discipline in line with legislation, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure successful outcomes.
· Manage the project in line with contractual and commercial requirements, extension of time and claims formulation.
· Follow up monthly on project certificates and valuations.
· Self and team use SharePoint as a repository for project information and project management assurance
Minimum requirements
· Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent
· BSc / BEng / BTech in Mining or Engineering
· Mine Managers Certificate of Competency
· Project Management Professional (Preferred)
· Business /Financial Management qualification (Advantageous)
· Exposure to CCS (Construction Computer Software)
· Entrepreneurial and commercial thinking skills, with in-depth understanding of contracts and Project financials
· Ability to apply expertise and technology, deliver results and meet customer expectations.
· Passionate about safety leadership and engagement
· MS Office proficient including MS Projects
· Covid-19 Coronavirus Vaccination Certificate [Site Specific]
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
· Minimum 5 years of operational project management experience in a similar position in a metalliferous, mining environment, with experience as a 2.6.1 legal appointee in a Shaft sinking and Shaft Equipping project.
· Experience successfully managing industrial relations and union community engagement in a highly unionised environment.
· Sound knowledge and understanding of one or more specific areas as required for the project (Shaft Sinking, Equipping Capital Development, Contract Mining, Trackless Mechanised Mining, Board and Pillar mining, Hard rock production etc.
· Working knowledge of Project Management principles, frameworks, methodologies, and system requirements, with proven depth of experience in project management i.e., meeting project deadlines, achieving financial targets and commercial entitlements
· Knowledge of CCS [Construction Computer Software] and managing allowable and certificates
· Experience leading a multidisciplinary team
