Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Artisan Rigger to be placed at Ivan PlatsPlatreef Mine, in Mokopane, Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Foreman. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

·        Engineering installations are constructed according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications

·        Plan and execute a rigging equipment maintenance schedule according to OEM specifications and company standards

·        Identify coil and inspect ropes

·        Protect ropes using various techniques

·        Maintain winder ropes, attachments, sheave wheels/ conveyors, and assist with shaft slinging

·        Engineering equipment is repaired according to agreed standards and schedules

·        Compliance with SHEQ, M&RC and client standards, policies and procedures

·        Perform mini risk assessment prior to commencing work

·        Plan the job in terms of standards and required resources and draw up a schedule to guide the execution thereof

·        Effective self-management and alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives

• Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent
• Section 26 Rigger/Ropes man Trade Certificate / MIETTB Trade Certificate through a registered body
• Muscular strength to do rope splicing
• Valid Code EB driver's license
• Valid Medical certificate of Fitness
• Covid-19 Coronavirus Vaccination Certificate [Site Specific]
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• Good verbal and written English communication skills

• 10 years mining industry experience (underground and surface)
• 10 years trade experience as a Rigger / Ropesman
