Introduction
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Operator I Raise Drilling, to be based at Dishaba Mine near Northam, Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Shift Supervisor Raise Drilling.
Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Conduct safe and efficient underground excavations through the operation of large and small Raise Bore machines to achieve production targets
  • Effective supervision of team’s daily tasks
  • Cost containment through effective and safe use of raise bore drilling machines, adhere to OEM specifications
  • Conduct morning meetings and complete the relevant checklists, risk /safety documents as required
  • Self and team understand and comply with M&RC’s standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
  • Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows
  • Effective self and team management and alignment with M&RC’s values and leadership initiatives

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Certified as competent B
  • Certified competent as a Raise Drilling Operator
  • Engineering Trade Certificate [advantageous]
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Good English communication skills (written and verbal)

 Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience operating a raise drilling machine on a raise drilling operation
  • Ability to supervise a team and complete administrative requirements [reporting, checklists, safety documentation]
  • Understanding of a baseline risk assessment with ability to complete an issue based risk assessment independently [Essential]
