Introduction
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
- Engineering installations are constructed according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications
- Engineering equipment is maintained according to agreed standards and schedules
- Engineering equipment is repaired according to agreed standards and schedules
- Compliance with SHEQ, M&RC and client standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
- Cost containment, high mean time to failure after repairs
- Effective stakeholder engagement
- Competent, motivated, disciplined and positive team
- Effective self and team supervision in alignment with MRC values and leadership initiatives
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
- Section 26 Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate / MIETTB (Mining Industry Engineering Trades Training Board)
i. Trade Certificate through a registered body, e.g.: MERSETA, MQA
ii. Olifantsfontein, pre-1994
iii. ESTC (Engineering Skills Training Centre) James Park
iv. GFA (Goldfields Training Academy)
- Contract of Apprenticeship signed off by employer and Department of Manpower
- Valid First Aid Certificate (Essential, if not available, must obtain at on-boarding)
- Valid Code EB driver's license
- Sound interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills in English
- Medically fit to work underground (including HTS, RFA)
- Clear criminal record
- 5 year's mining industry experience (underground and surface)
- 5 year's trade experience as a Diesel Mechanic
- TMM experience (preferred)
