Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
• Effective, efficient and timeous administration of all in-country and offshore payroll functions allocated, in line with country statutory laws and M&RC’s policies, standards and procedures
• Effectively gather, collate and control large volumes of electronic and hard copy data allocated for processing and maintain data integrity
• Effective planning and organising to ensure no cut-off, payment, reporting or month end deadlines are missed
• Daily maintenance of control registers for functions allocated e.g. payroll calculations, timesheet processes and control checklists
• Verify Sage 300 payroll calculations integrity via system checks and manual payslip checks
• Balance reports to the database and password protect before despatching
• Comply with country statutory laws and M&RC’s policies, procedures and standards
• Effective stakeholder engagement with sites and other departments to ensure smooth payroll workflows
• Resolve payroll queries received within 24 hours, escalate timeously if unable to resolve
• Proactively report risks identified
• Effective self-management in alignment with M&RC values
Minimum requirements
• Minimum National Diploma: Payroll Administration Services NQF Level 5
• Registration with the South African Payroll Association (advantageous)
• Proficient in Sage 300 Payroll system or similar electronic payroll system
• Proficient in MS Office [Intermediate Excel essential]
• Sound numerical reasoning with good calculation ability
• Ability to check and sign-off prior paid severance packages
• Good administration, planning and organising skills
• Unwavering confidentiality and discretion
• High attention to detail and level of accuracy in all tasks
• Ability to work under pressure, maintain a professional demeanour and follow instructions accurately
• Good English written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate across all levels
• Be willing to be trained on SA and/or offshore payrolls
• Experience working on a payroll of more than 1000 employees, preferably in a mining or construction environment
• Experience working on Sage 300 or similar electronic payroll system
• Experience dealing with management, staff and service providers
• Knowledge of RMA statement of earnings calculations
• Knowledge of POPIA, BCEA, Severance, COID and TAX statutory laws
