Introduction
Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Shift Supervisor Mining to be placed in Zibulo NS Decline Development, Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will report to the Mine Overseer.
The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates.

Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
- Supervise and lead underground crews to achieve production and quality targets to project scope
- Cost containment through effect cost control and efficient target achievement
- Self and team understand and comply with legal regulations and M&RC’s policies, procedures, standards and safety protocols
- Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows and target achievement
- Proactive risk identification and mitigation in alignment with legal regulations and M&RC’s standards, policies and procedures
- Accurate, timely, relevant reporting and administration
- Effective risk management and compliance with MHSA, SHEQ, M&RC and client requirements
- Effective self-management and alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
• Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent
• Recognised Shift Supervisor Certificate (includes Planning, Leading, Organising and Control)
• Numeracy skills at minimum NQF 3
• Blasting Certificate of Competency (Fiery Mines)
• Relevant Gas Testing Certificates for Coal Mines (Essential)
• Strata 2 Certificate (Essential, if not available, must obtain at on-boarding)
• Valid First Aid Certificate, if not available obtain at on-boarding
• Valid EB Driver’s License
• Excellent planning, organising and monitoring skills, and Proficient in English both verbal and written
• Recognised Shift Supervisor Certificate (includes Planning, Leading, Organising and Control)

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Miner in a coal mining environment
• Experience in trackless mechanised mining
• Exposure acting as a Shift Supervisor would be advantageous
• Experience in installation of spin anchors, welded mesh and application of wetcrete
• Experience in decline development and trackless mechanised mining
• Experience working with unstable ground conditions and experience in long anchors, and concrete work
• Experience in stone work extensive knowledge and understanding of mining operations
• Experience in trackless mechanised mining
