Introduction
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Construction Man (With B/Cert), to be based at the K4 Shaft near Marikana, North West. The successful candidate will report to the Shift Supervisor.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
- Effective and efficient supervision of the mining construction crew to achieve production targets
- Plan, schedule and control activities to ensure availability of resources, material and equipment
- Effective management of materials, consumables and explosives
- Team and self-perform drilling, blasting, lashing, shaft lining and equipping to standard
- Team and self-understanding and comply with M&RC’s policies, procedures, standards
- Effective self and team management and alignment with MRC values and leadership initiatives
- Proactive risk identification and mitigation in compliance with DMR, M&RC and Client’s safety requirements
- Participate in waiting place/pre-shift meetings and ensure parameters relating to quality, quantity, cost and safety are understood.
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
- Blasting Certificate
- License to Supervise or equivalent supervisory qualifications.
- Basic Rigging Certificate
- Planning and organising skills
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
- Effective and efficient supervision of the mining construction crew to achieve production targets
- At least 4 years’ experience in underground construction work
- Experience transporting and operating machinery in an underground environment
- Experience supervising a team
- Rigging experience essential
