Introduction
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Learner Operator Raise Drilling, to be based at the Dishaba Mine near Thabazimbi, Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Shift Supervisor Raise Drilling.
Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to: 

  • Effectively supervise a team of general workers, perform the duties of a drilling operator and in the process achieve competency at this entry level role
  • Successfully complete on the job practical work and theory at the M&RC Training Academy
  • Safely operate raise drilling machines under supervision
  • Follow lock out procedures
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and timeously
  • Understand and comply with M&RC’s standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
  • Raise Drilling Operator training program [Theory essential]
  • Competency B
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Raise Drilling General Worker (Advantageous)
  • Sound knowledge of raise drilling operations and methods
  • Understanding of a baseline risk assessment with ability to complete an issue based risk assessment independently [essential]
